This means that the start of the communication is done in clear text, then encryption is negotiated. While with an SSL enabled SMTP server the start of the communication is the encrpytion (ssl) negotiation. Currently the SMTP sender of Servers Alive is only able to do OR all in clear text ("normal" SMTP) or all encrypted (SSL). Using TLS is not (yet) possible. We're looking at a way to add this. Will keep the list update with any updates on this new feature. The setting asks for POP3, but outgoing email should go through SMTP. There is no setting for the POP3 port for POP3 to work. I set the smtp server with its port and I'm not connecting.
