Hi, This typically means that you are trying to compile samba with the built in c compiler that ships with HP. THis compiler is primarily provided to do kernel regens, etc. it is NOT ansi compliant, and cannot be used to compile/build samba. You can either purchase the HP Ansi C compiler, or go to the gnu gcc web site and download the gcc compiler for HPUX, and use it. Hope this helps, Don
