OK... Here's some more info on this. I have attached a copy of the smb.conf file, the output of testparm with the global section sorted for your convenience :), and the output of the combined messages from log.smbd, log.nmbd, samba/smbd.log, and itlaptop.log (the w98 computer that I'm trying to use)
The username that I am trying to use is alex. Looking at the combined logs, there is an ALEX that continues to show up... Also, I added "lanman auth = yes" to the conf to try that, as the logs are showing that the lanman password is being accepted the second time. Didn't make any difference, the machine continues to only log in every other attempt. One thing that intrigues me is the line in the combined log file: [2002/05/13 10:30:47, 3] smbd/process.c:timeout_processing(1091) end of file from client This shows up on each "first" attempt, but never on any "second" attempt. I have a feeling that this may be a clue. Any ideas? Thanks!
