Samba is used to allow Windows clients to access shared Linux/UNIX
directories. You need to use a server called Netatalk which is similar to
Samba, except it provides AppleTalk services for Macs. It comes as standard
with many recent distros (including Mandrake 8.2 and RedHat 7.3), you may
need to install it though.
