AFAIK, nss_wins is useable without any other parts of samba. All you
need is an smb.conf file listing your wins server.

In fact, in Mandrake (since 8.1 or 8.2 I think) nss_wins has been a
seperate package, relying only on samba-common (which provides the
smb.conf).
