Hello, i've a fairly standard samba setup (using version 2.2.4).
server string = jetsys SMB server (%h) workgroup = jetsys os level = 65 security = user encrypt passwords = Yes null passwords = yes guest account = nobody # map to guest = Bad User map to guest = Bad Password # This tells samba to write log files per machine. log file = /var/log/samba/%m # This sets an alternate log level. Default is 2. log level = 5 printing = CUPS printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = Yes # If you want Samba to act as a wins server, please set # 'wins support' to yes. wins support = yes wins proxy = yes # Do you wan't samba to act as a logon-server for your windows 95/98 # clients, so uncomment the following: domain logons = Yes domain master = Yes preferred master = Yes local master = Yes [printers] comment = All Printers path = /var/spool/public create mask = 0600 writable = No printable = Yes public = Yes read only = Yes guest ok = Yes browseable = No beside from the printer share, there are other shares which i can use from both Windows9X Clients and XP. However the printer does not work from XP. I can search for the printer on the server and add it. But then the printer symbol on the desktop always shows "Access denied". I don't log in from Windows XP into a samba domain. I've just setup a local account with password and the same account with smbpasswd on the samba server. The logs on samba are showing something like this: se_access_check: also S-1-1-0 [2002/11/26 20:51:19, 3] lib/util_seaccess.c:se_access_check(273) se_access_check: also S-1-5-2 [2002/11/26 20:51:19, 3] lib/util_seaccess.c:se_access_check(273) se_access_check: also S-1-5-11 [2002/11/26 20:51:19, 5] lib/util_seaccess.c:se_access_check(331) se_access_check: access (f000c) denied. I tried different settings of map guest (Bad User) with no success.
