A solution that works to this scenario is to use the noperm option when mounting the smb share. it still reports DOM\None as the group owner (GID 15000), but I am able to access the share as expected, create folders, delete them, etc. Just putting it here because I had a hard time finding the solution, so hopefully this helps someone else...
