I made progress in tracking down a problem on cygwin that's been bothering
me for a while since Win7 and domain.
when I do:
mkpasswd -D
mkpasswd (434): [31] A device attached to the system is not functioning.
A network trace shows that it's trying to get the home dir
information from my main user. Wwhen it queries the info Samba
returns STATUS UNSUCCESSFUL (indicated in network status of trace).
Please get us the full network trace and debug level 10 log.

While the network capture was easily able to isolated to 14K (uncompressed
& attached),
the log files, due to restarting the servers to turn on level 10 debugging, 11
of them
(by service, IP, host, name, and domain), comprise over 30MB.
I'm sorry, but such a request doesn't seem practical.
It's frame 48 that fails that I need more information on
from the debug level 10 log.
If your bandwidth does not allow to send 30MB (probably much
less if compressed), then I can't help you, sorry. Please
find someone to come on-site, so that this bandwidth problem
can be solved by shipping a human.

I think I want to try a different approach. like finding
out why '*' doesn't resolve my domain entries...but they can be enumerated
by looking at 'Bliss'... Not sure why * wouldn't match my domain on the PDC
they are they same, no?
