Update: I tried the following tutorial http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/simple.html#id2550946
*I changed my smb.conf to:* [global] workgroup = WEBBEDIT security = SHARE [HTML] path = /var/www/html read only = No guest ok = Yes The first validation step is to run 'smbclient -L localhost -U%'. *It should have returned something like:* Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- Plans Disk IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Samba 3.0.20) ADMIN$ IPC IPC Service (Samba 3.0.20) Server Comment --------- ------- webbedit.lan Samba 3.0.20 Workgroup Master --------- -------- WEBBEDIT SERVER *Mine returned this:* Domain=[WEBBEDIT] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.5.4-68.el6_0.2] Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- HTML Disk IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Samba 3.5.4-68.el6_0.2) Domain=[WEBBEDIT] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.5.4-68.el6_0.2] Server Comment --------- ------- Workgroup Master --------- ------- Now the tutorial is on an earlier version so some changes may be required, but it's clear to see from my output that a domain is being set rather than a Workgroup. Any ideas?
