Thanks for the help Mathieu, Turns out it was /etc/ldap.conf causing the problem. nss_base_passwd, nss_base_group & nss_base_shadow was set to ou=Users.... Of course, if the machine account is supposed to log on from a ou=Computers, this will prevent it...
I think I'll sit down and write a complete howto on getting all of this working together. Most existing howto's seems to only include bits of the puzzle. Thanks again.
