I couldn't find any documentation about how to make samba dynamically link its executables against libsmbclient.so, or any configure arguments might that turn this on. I saw on the samba-technical list that there was a patch to the samba Makefile.in to enable dynamic linking and that it generated huge size savings. Is that patch my only option if I want to minimize samba's disk footprint?
