Do SAMBA works if one of the server is using a translated IP? Meaning to say physically both machines are of different subnets, and one of the machines is translated through the firewall to the other machines subnet. If these two LANs are subnets you must setup WINS or DNS too. You might have to open both tcp and udp port 135 if you are using spoolss as well.
