All right, I have reloaded and tested this on one workstation, screaming fast. That is, add a local port which is the UNC of the printer, and assign that port when creating a printer. Since this is all local until the job actually goes through the local spooler out to the UNC queue it better be fast.
Much as I like "Point and Print" now that I have it working (rid of "Access Denied" messages) if this is "how it works" then I will have to revert back to my code which installs these local ports / printers as 6 to 7 second delays every time something enum's the printers is insane.
