And sometimes, just to be extra cheezy, Windows XP will remember all the shares that were mounted by previous users. So on a shared computer, by the end of the day you will see everyone's home directories "mapped", but with only your home directory being accessible.
The only way to get Windows XP to release all connections with the PDC seems to be the three finger salute. smbstatus will show that the machine keeps the connectin open long after a user logs off.
