Thanks. I found the issue. I modified cupsd.conf to include:
PreserveJobHistory No PreserveJobFiles No
FYI, there is a nice GUI for CUPS to be found at http://localhost:631/ or http://YourMachinesIPOrDNS.net:631/
I've found it quite useful. I used "kups" to set up an admin user.
