I think this is an error in the man page smb.conf:
ldap group suffix (G)
This parameters specifies the suffix that is used for
groups
when these are added to the LDAP directory. If this
parameter
is unset, the value of ldap suffix will be used instead.
Default: ldap group suffix =
Example: ldap group suffix = dc=samba,ou=Groups
Shouldn't the example line read:
Example: ldap group suffix = ou=Groups,dc=samba
