You were right, that did show something, but the result is interesting. Here is what I've set in the smb.conf: include = /etc/samba/smb.conf.%m Here is what I've found in the log file for a machine that had an own smb.conf file (smb.conf.vendeg): [..] [2005/04/19 12:09:13, 2] smbd/sesssetup.c:setup_new_vc_session(535) setup_new_vc_session: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources. [2005/04/19 12:09:13, 3] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(697) sesssetupX:[EMAIL PROTECTED] [2005/04/19 12:09:13, 6] param/loadparm.c:lp_file_list_changed(2668) lp_file_list_changed() file /etc/samba/smb.conf.%m -> /etc/samba/smb.conf.192.168.0.31 last mod_time: Thu Jan 1 01:00:00 1970 file /etc/samba/smb.conf -> /etc/samba/smb.conf last mod_time: Tue Apr 19 12:07:05 2005 [..] The interesting thing is that this was found in the log file 192.168.0.31.log, and not in the vendeg.log file. I have "log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log" also set in the smb.conf file. What do you think? It seems to me, that this leads back to another thread I started yesterday with a subject "netbios name resolution"...
