for security reasons this might not be the best idea. I wouldn't open a Windows share to the internet if not necessary. However you might tunnel your traffic e.g. with "putty" from the Windows clients to the server and then connect to the Samba-server internally.

Openvpn do the job. It's simple to install and configure and is secure enough to avoid an intrusion.
