The OP stated that they want users to be able to log in from any workstation... he did NOT specify that it is expected that on each computer they receive the same desktop environment. Please be careful not to jump to solutions before the requirements are clearly understood.
If in the OP's environment it is only necessary to be able to log onto any workstation, and then when logged on to use the programs which are installed on that workstation, then he will be able to do so without the use of roaming profiles. This avoids the complications of Roaming Profiles.
