I migrated a few NT domains to Samba using the rpc net vampire command to a tdbsam backend, and then move to a LDAP backend and was successful. I had tried going directly to LDAP using the rpc net vampire command but it failed like yours. However I have come across scripts that do this migration in a book Windows to Linux Migration toolkit.
