Very unlikely. This sounds like a bug somewhere in the chain Samba 3.0.28a -> gcc 4.0.1 -> HPUX, maybe a Samba bug that only happens in this configuration. Can you file a bug at bugzilla.samba.org and post your smb.conf and a debug level 10 log of smbd? Thanks, Volker
