Reopen them please - and give Steve the logs he needs to fix them to your satisfaction. The Samba server bugs when used with OS/2 clients got fixed when Guenther Kukkuk worked closely with us to give us all the reproducible cases we needed (Guenther is now a member of the Samba Team btw - he does *great* work on this :-). You need to do the same for the cifsfs vs. OS/2 bugs. It's not like Steve doesn't care, he was the project lead for the OS/2 redirector :-) :-).
