I think that the problem is because there are records in certain files in /var/cache/samba
In particular these three:
wins.tdb
ntprinters.tdb
and
namelist.debug

What if I stopped samba, deleted those files, and then restarted.
Would that cause a problem for my users?

I wonder why nmbd thinks it needs to "do a status request" to that IP address?
It is another server here but does not run samba.
I have been trying to make is stop this without any luck so far.
Does anyone know how?
Thanks, Bill
