Luke, You'll get 1000 recomendations and it all depends on what you need and to what kind of users you're aiming it at. Probably the best would be to look around existing forum sites and see what they use, make a list of features you need and under what platform it should run: - Should it be freeware? May it be a commercial release with the special paid for extras? - Php? Perl? C CGI? - Should it be simple to handle? (for non-technical users?) - Should it have 100 of features and lots of gimmicks? - Should it run with a DBMS or will a flat file system be enough? - Is the author a sole person? Is it a company? Will you have to update every week due to security holes? If you're making money with the site you're putting the forum on, will a commercial product assure a quality of delivery or will you lose all your DB and settings every time you update a freeware product? .... so many questions..and its hard for anyone to give you a 100% satisfying answer. Trial and error may be the best way to go till you find the right pair of shoes for your needs... Check out www.hostcripts.com, look at the ratings, go to the sites and look into the demos.
