PHP and Mysql are pretty popular because of their portability to different web
servers. A lot of Sambarians use them because they use them in Apache as well.
Personally, I would look at whichever database is most comfortable to you. As you have
heard you can backend your application with Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, dbase, you
name it, heck you can even backend it with an MS Access Database linked to a Excel
Spreadsheet.. The question is which one is most comfortable to you.
