Greetings, I am using 6.0 with an Access 97 database. Despite trying every combination of settings that I can think of, I still have this very annoying problem.
It seems like every time I use an SQL query the connection stays open to the database. If I go to a page that uses it, and then I look at the DBMS Cache Usage, there will be a connection "In Use." These only go away once it has cycled through and cleaned up the connections... which seems to take about a minute. It does seem somewhat dependent on "Idle Timeout", but even at 0 the connections lag for about a minute. If they show up as "Idle", that seems okay and it works fine. The problem is that they stay as "In Use" for way too long. :( With one user this isn't much of a problem, but with two or more, it can cause a "too many client tasks" error from Access. This happens once 64 connections are "In Use." Regardless of the other settings (Min/Max Connections), it will never work beyond 64 connections. I assume this is a limitation of Access, but I had thought that the database connection would be freed up immediately once the page was finished loaded. The documentation seems to imply this. Any help would be appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe please go to http://www.sambar.ch/list/
