Dear Samtools Support,
I am studying mitochondrial DNA and wanted to include heteroplasmic
variants in my list of variants. The third and fourth numbers of the I16
field denote the number of total non-reference variants. However, I was
wondering if there was a reliable measure of the number of each individual
variant? I've noticed that the QS fields is a useful estimate of frequency
of each variant, but from another thread on the mailing list, it was
mentioned that the QS fields are unreliable.
Best,
