I actually did. This backend doesn't work with my scanner (Kyocera
ECOSYS M2040dn). After the first scanned page, device remains in a
"busy" state for about a minute. It also doesn't support ADF and doesn't
allow scanning to be canceled before completion.
I'm currently working on ADF. The idea being to have a complete support.
The support provided by sane-airscane ADF does not work for Canon IR ADF scanners.

I can add to this that Xsane is not completely supported on the HP
ENVY4500.

Please note, I've put a fair amount of effort to get my backend
(sane-airscan) integrated with the SANE project. Unfortunately, I've
received literally zero official response.

I noticed that too. Enquiring minds would like to know why not
integrate what is obviously a competent backend into SANE.
