Hi there! Ubuntu Bionic (18.04) Kernel 5.3.0, Canon PIXMA MX870
connected over WiFi (Comcast XFinity router, not sure if that part
matters), scanning initiates, there are some sounds from the scanner,
but then I get an I/O error. After that, scanner continues to indicate
it is scanning but the light source does not move across the platen
bed; obviously nothing is scanning, there are no sounds, nothing.
Here's a snap of my situation:
[snap removed due to file size constraints, but as described from
description]
Hi Mike,
Your device is dated 2016, the PIXMA driver should work, I invite you to
update your sane installation and retes
# sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rolfbensch/sane-git
# sudo apt-get update
# apt install libsane libsane-common sane-utils
Not sure where to go from here. Willing to help with debug efforts if
anyone would be so kind as to instruct me as to which direction to go.
Otherwise, just wanted to report it to keep the developers informed.
Many thanks!
Mike
