Actually, when I started distribution of this software, I always
suggested users to install repo rather that directly install packages.
But for many users it looks overcomplicated, so I've finally gave up,
and now point to packages directly.

Hmm. You are the first one to ask.
You may instead of directly downloading a package add a repository, as
explained here:
https://software.opensuse.org//download.html?project=home%3Apzz&package=sane-airscan
And then install package by name. At this case, your package manager
will veryfy my digital signature, and warn in a case of signature mismatch.
