Hi,
I see the files: coolscan2.conf, coolscan3.conf and
coolscan.conf in my sane directory. I have a Nikon Super
Coolscan 4000 ED connected to my Dell Latitude 5410. When I put
"scanimage -L" into my terminal I get : ('v4l:/dev/video0' is a
Noname Integrated_Webcam_HD: Integrate virtual device) for a
response. I think this is the laptop's camera, not the Nikon.
I am using PCLinuxOS a Mandrake fork, I have xsane and sane
installed. Checking dmesg, I find no reference to the Nikon
Coolscan being detected. I have the SA-21 module plugged in. I
have a new USB to Firewire adapter-cable purchased from Amazon
connected to the laptop. I had the Nikon turned on prior to
turning on the laptop so it would / should see the Nikon during
boot-up.
Do you have any suggestions for me to try?
These cables are usually just connector adaptors: they often don't actually
include a firewire to USB bridge.
You could check your cable and might find you need to get a firewire HBA of
some type.
Best wishes,
@ndy
