On my system (Mandrake 8.2) I think the scanner module is loaded by the USB hotplug scripts. You may have to edit those to associate the USB vendor/product IDs of the scanner with the scanner kernel module. It may also work if you create the /dev/usb/scanner0 device node explicitly using mknod. I think it's a good idea then to also create a symlink called /dev/usbscanner: 'ln -s /dev/usb/scanner0 /dev/usbscanner'. Kind regards, Bertrik
