My scanner works immediately after starting system without making a modprobe scanner in shell. I have canonscanfb636u and Mandrake 9.0. I added in /etc/rc.d/rc.local and /etc/rc.d/rc.modules "modprobe scanner" In modules.conf i have "options scanner vendor=0x04a9 product=0x2204 After starting system i can start at once with xsane without making a modprobe scanner in shell.
