This is the complete line: RIE (sanei_usb_control_msg (dev->dn, REQUEST_TYPE_OUT, REQUEST_REGISTER, VALUE_INIT, INDEX, 1, &val)); As far as I can see this is the first command sent to the scanner. If it fails, I guess this scanner is either not a gl841 scanner or it's somehow blocked. Try to replug it. If it has a power supply, check if it's properly connected. You can also set SANE_DEBUG_SANEI_USB=255 to see why the command fails exactly. This is really a "Genius ColorPage-Slim 1200 USB2"? Have you checked the vendor/product ids? They should be: vendor=0x0458 [Genius] product=0x2020 [CP-Slim 1200 USB2] Bye, henning
