Hello, Gaspar! The support of the scanner was added only based on the assumption that is's more or less similar to HP 5590/5550 models. In the other words, I haven't tested it on real hardware. Now it's time to do that ;) > When I issue the command > sane-find-scanner it returns: > > This is sane-find-scanner from sane-backends 1.0.21cvs ... > ? ?checking for HP4500C/4570C/5500C/5550C/5590/7650 chipset ... > ? ?Didn't get correct confirmation for USB-in-USB command (needed: 0x01, > got: 0x00 > <Couldn't determine the type of the USB chip (result from sane-backends > 1.0.21cvs)> > The confirmation error is rather strange - haven't seen that before. However, the error sane-find-scanner reports doesn't always means that you couldn't use the scanner at all - the utility serves only diagnostic purposes. > > What could be the problem with > > ? ?checking for HP4500C/4570C/5500C/5550C/5590/7650 chipset ... > ? ?Didn't get correct confirmation for USB-in-USB command (needed: 0x01, > got: 0x00 ? At least, the error explains why sane-find-scanner reported no devices. Could you, please, try to scan eg. using scanimage with backend debug enabled? The command SANE_DEBUG_HP5590=50 scanimage 1>img.pnm 2>hp5590.log will do that, you will get the debug information in hp5590.log and resulting image in img.pnm. Thanks in advance, -- Ilia Sotnikov
