Dear all, I am happy to state that after some tweaking of the pixma backend to deal with minimum multiples of pixels in the x-direction (as was needed with the MP510---these two devices are generation 2 but behave as generation 3 in some respects; possibly this affects others as well), the Canon MP460 works perfectly with the CVS pixma backend, in color & greyscale (there is no native lineart mode) from 75dpi through to 1200dpi. Support can therefore be changed to complete in the backend.
