Hello,

I need help on getting HP Scanjet 7400c to work under Arch Linux. The
scanner has been tested under Windows 7 and works well with VueScan.

The version of sane installed is 1.0.25. The kernel version is 4.5.1.
The system is AMD64 (or x86_64).

lsusb recognizes the scanner:
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 03f0:0801 Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 7400c

So does sane, because 'scanimage -L' returns:
device `avision:libusb:003:008' is a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 7400c
flatbed scanner

However, when I try to test scan an image as root:
# scanimage --device avision:libusb:003:008 --format=tiff > test.tiff
I'm told:
scanimage: open of device avision:libusb:003:008 failed: Invalid argument

What can I do to (1) provide more debug information, or (2) tweak
something to make it work?

Please let me know! :-)

Kind regards,

Xianwen
