Hi!

I agree with the cited patch in so far that disabling the (both) calls to sanei_usb_clear_halt() allows me to use my SCX _3400_ scanner at all - while I cannot report any downside (except ADF, see bottom).

Minimal reproduction step is to delete (comment out) both calls in sanei_usb_clear_halt(). In fact only a few libs seem to use this function call - is it's usage required/recommended at all?

uname -a
Linux daisy 4.14.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 30 18:33:13 UTC 2017 x86_64
GNU/Linux

pacman -Qo /usr/lib/sane/libsane-xerox_mfp.so
/usr/lib/sane/libsane-xerox_mfp.so ist in sane 1.0.27-1 enthalten

This device has already worked with arch before (including the ADF, but I lost this ability earlier). Now I'm confused to see there were no major changes to this library meanwhile, so possibly my issue might be higher level sane or kernel related. (?)

Best Regards
Rudolf
