The Devil & The Duck
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.
(Ada seorang anak laki2 mengunjungi kakek neneknya di pertanian mereka)
He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods..
(Ia diberi ketapel u/ bermain di hutan)
He practiced in the woods; but he could never hit the target.
(Ia berlatih menggunakan ketapelnya di hutan, tapi tidak pernah bisa mengenai
sasaran)
Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.
(Putus asa, ia pulang untuk makan malam)
As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.
(Sewaktu sedang berjalan pulang, ia melihat bebek peliharaan neneknya)
Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head
and killed it. He was shocked and grieved!
(Secara reflek, ia melontarkan ketapel tsb dan mengenai bebek tepat di kepala
dan bebek itu mati. Ia sangat kaget dan bersedih!)
In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see his
Sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
(Di dlm kepanikan, ia menyembunyikan bangkai bebek di tumpukan kayu, dan
melihat saudara perempuannya sedang memperhatikannya! Sally melihat semuanya,
tapi ia tdk mengatakan apa2..)
After lunch the next day Grandma said, 'Sally, let's wash the dishes'
(Sehabis mkn siang keesokan harinya, nenek berkata, ' Sally, mari bantu saya
mencuci piring')
But Sally said, 'Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.'
(Tapi Sally berkata, 'Nenek, Johnny bilang dia mau membantu di dapur')
Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?'
(Lalu ia berbisik kepada Johnny, 'Inget bebek itu?')
So Johnny did the dishes.
(Maka, Johnny yang mencuci piring)
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma
said, 'I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper.'
(Sore harinya, kakek bertanya apakah anak-anak itu mau ikut memancing, dan
nenek berkata, 'Wah sayang sekali, tapi Sally hrs membantuku membuat makan
malam')
Sally just smiled and said, 'well that's all right because Johnny told me he
wanted to help?
(Sally hanya tersenyum, 'Tidak apa2 karena Johnny bilang dia akan membantu
nenek')
She whispered again, 'Remember the duck?' So Sally went fishing and Johnny
stayed to help.
(Ia berbisik kembali, 'Inget bebek itu?' Maka Sally pergi memancing dan Johnny
tinggal untuk membantu nenek)
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he
Finally couldn't stand it any longer.
(Setelah bbrp hari Johnny mengerjakan pekerjaannya dan sekaligus pekerjaan
Sally, akhirnya ia tdk tahan lagi)
He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.
(Ia mendatangi nenek dan mengaku bhw dia telah membunuh bebek milik nenek)
Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, 'Sweetheart, I know. You see, I
was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I
forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of
you.'
(Nenek berlutut, dan memeluknya dan berkata, 'SAYANG, NENEK TAHU. TAHUKAH KAMU,
WAKTU ITU NENEK SEDANG BERDIRI DEKAT JENDELA DAN MELIHAT SEMUANYA, TAPI KARENA
NENEK MENGASIHI KAMU, NENEK MEMAAFKAN KAMU. NENEK HANYA MENGIRA-NGIRA BERAPA
LAMA KAMU AKAN MEMBIARKAN SALLY MEMPERBUDAK KAMU')
Thought for the day and every day thereafter:
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done....? And the devil keeps
throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred,
anger, bitterness, etc.)...whatever it is....You need to know that:
God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing..
(Renungan untuk hari ini dan di hari-hari selanjutnya: Apapun yg terjadi di
masa lalu, apapun yg kamu lakukan, dan iblis terus menerus memunculkannya
kembali kepadamu (kebohongan, kecurangan, hutang, ketakutan, kebiasaan buruk,
kebencian, amarah, kepahitan, dll..) apapun itu...KAMU PERLU TAHU BAHWA: TUHAN
SEDANG BERADA DI JENDELA DAN DIA MELIHAT SEMUANYA...)
He has seen your whole life... He wants you to know that He loves you and that
you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a
slave of you.
(DIA telah melihat seluruh hidupmu. DIA ingin kamu mengetahui bhw DIA
mengasihimu dan kamu telah diampuni. DIA hanya mengira-ngira berapa lama kamu
akan membiarkan iblis memperbudak kamu)
The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness;
(Hal yang terbesar tentang TUHAN adalah ketika kamu meminta pengampunan;)
He not only forgives you, but He forgets.
DIA tdk hanya mengampuni kamu, tapi DIA melupakan kesalahanmu.
It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved.
Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today.
