Hi, Client is looking for *LAN Administrator - NY, NY*. This is a 12 months Contract position. Local candidates only. * * *Position Description/Responsibilities:* - Implement and support network disk and tape backup and disaster recovery. - Administer a network of up to thirty five hundred (3,500) workstations or assists in administration of a large site or network, utilizing one or more TCP/IP protocols. - Provide technical consulting services to department/organization regarding use of computers and networks to satisfy business needs. - Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, Windows networks, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment. - Perform and/or oversee software installation, and network operating system upgrades; maintain site licenses for department/organization. - Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, and file system integrity, and adding and deleting users. - Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. - Knowledge of virtualization technology – installation, planning, maintenance - Knowledge of network architecture/ design (VLANs) - Knowledge of installing/using NAS storage (SCSI, SAN, FIBER) - May lead and/or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions. - Maintain knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems. *Position Requirements/Technical Skills:* Minimum total of 4 years experience as a Windows LAN Administrator is required. In addition candidate must be proficient in writing and speaking the English language. - Experience in Windows 2000, 2003, 2008 and network operating systems. - Experience in Active Directory, domain administration and the primary network services.
