*The client need someone Local to MA and Green Card USC and EAD- TN Candidates* Position: Adabas DBA Location:Chelsea, MA Duration:6+ Months The ADABAS Database Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of ADABAS, Natural, and Com-Plete software and configurations. Strong hands-on database administration and advanced troubleshooting skills are required for this position. The ADABAS Database Administrator installs the database management software on the enterprise server and is also responsible for applying patches and bug fixes and for performing major version upgrades. Install, test, and debug OEM peripheral software for use by programming staff and Database Administrators. Diagnose and resolve system failure/interruption through the use of dumps and manual problem determination. Establish, install, and maintain ITD database management systems operating standards. The enterprise database server uses certain system resources disk, memory, and network resources. The ADABAS Database Administrator identifies physical storage areas and then defines logical mappings to those areas. After setting up the logical devices (volume groups, etc.), the ADABAS Database administrator creates databases on those devices and assigns administrative responsibility to the DBA. The ADABAS Database administrator manages system configuration settings, including the amount of server memory and how its allocated, the number of concurrent user connections and open databases, and the number of locks and sizing of buffer pools. These settings affect system availability and performance. Maintain database management system and peripheral software through the application of ZAPS and/or source code fixes. Writes and maintains assembler user exits for the database management system and OEM peripheral software. Make sure databases and logs are sized properly. Add and configure new storage as required. Periodically reviews of database management system parameters and makes adjustments as necessary. Evaluate and test new releases of database management system and OEM software products. Perform level two support functions for CommonHelp desk. Develop, write and issue database management system Technical Bulletins as required. Develop and issue written procedures of operational implementation of all system software. Oversees maintenance and testing procedures necessary for complete disaster recovery of ITD enterprise database management systems. Maintain, track, and report database management system and peripheral system software modifications as part of a change control environment. Provide internal technical assistance to applications/management teams. The ADABAS Database Administrator installs the Com-Plete teleprocessing monitor software on the enterprise server and is also responsible for applying patches and bug fixes and for performing major version upgrades. The ADABAS Database Administrator monitors the Com-Plete teleprocessing monitor and makes appropriate tuning adjustments to keep it performing at peak efficiency The ADABAS Database Administrator installs the Natural software on the enterprise server and is also responsible for applying patches and bug fixes and for performing major version upgrades. The ADABAS Database Administrator monitors the Natural environments and makes appropriate tuning adjustments to keep it performing at peak efficiency Comply with Change Management Policy and Procedure Identify and Document undocumented Standard Work Items Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of electronic data processing systems, principles and techniques, including assembler and job control language. Extensive knowledge of ADABAS, Natural and Com-Plete. Thorough knowledge of the applications for and use of ADABAS and Natural including their capabilities and programming techniques. Ability to investigate/resolve problems in a time constrained environment. Ability to understand and follow sometimes complex oral and written instructions.
