*DOR has implemented SAP Business Objects (BO) as its tool set for Business
Intelligence. DOR wishes to engage an experienced Business Objects Data
Analyst to provide technical support of the DOR Business Intelligence
program on an ongoing basis. The following position description details the
skills and tasks that are required of the BOData Analyst. These
tasks/skills do not include database administration support or technical
infrastructure support tasks, as they fall under a different support area
within the DOR IRM organization.*



*Business Intelligence data can some from a variety of sources. The Data
Analyst must work from the business requirements for a project as defined
by the Business Analyst, analyze the available data, and determine a
process and structure for ETL (Extract, Translate, and Load) of the data
into a denormalized format for use by the Business Objects developers. All
of the data load processes will use Microsoft SQL Server Integration
Services (SSIS). At this time an experienced ETL (Extract, Translate, and
Load) specialist with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Management
Studio, and SSIS is needed. Since some of the data is in XML format,
experience with XPath, XQuery, and XML schema language are also required.
Experience with SAP Business Objects is a plus.*

*Specific Duties and Responsibilities:*

*The following application tasks are expected to be executed by the Data
Analyst. All tasks will involve some degree of up front analysis prior to
development or execution, as well as several phases of system and user
acceptance testing.*

*These tasks/skills do not include database administration support or
technical infrastructure support tasks, as these responsibilities fall
under a different support area within the SCDOR organization.*

*1. Works with consultants, application developers and end users to develop
the logical data model and data architecture of assigned application.
Designs relational databases within the architectural framework to meet
application needs. Serves as lead database designer for Business
Intelligence systems. Develops and implements standards for database design
in a denormalized environment.*

*2. Analyzes anticipated data volumes and patterns of use; gains knowledge
of agency data usage to improve performance and efficiency of database
access and manipulation.*

*3. Writes and maintains stored procedures as needed; develops standards
for the use of stored procedures, object relational mappers, and other
means of database access. Develops standards for application handling of
databases, including error handling. Builds database utilities as needed
for application use, such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
packages and database scripts.*

*4. Supports application developers. Assists application developers in
resolving database related application problems, both in development and in
production. Works with Database Administration to resolve database
performance problems. Required to respond to emergency system issues on a
24/7 basis.*

*5. Contributes to the Business Intelligence data dictionary for
application and business user development. Develops and implements
standards for naming of database objects.*

*6. Performing database development and utility functions, such as SQL
Server Analytical Services for OLAP, T-SQL, stored procedure, SSIS, etc. as
needed for loading and analysis of data.*



*The successful candidate will have, at minimum, the following skills:*

*• Experience and expertise in developing data analysis and requirements
from business user requirements.*

*• Experience and expertise in SQL, including development of T/SQL queries,
stored procedures and data manipulation. Expert knowledge of databases and
relational database concepts. Experience with SQL Server 2008 is desirable;
experience with SQL Server 2012-14 is required.*

*• Experience with use of XML data, and XML tools such as XPath and XQuery.*

*• Experience with Windows 7 operating system and the Windows 2012 server
environment.*

*• Experience with Business Intelligence concepts, including the use of
Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools and creation of data marts.
Expertise in SSIS is required.*

*• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in
writing.*

*• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with
business users, management, vendors, and peers.*

*• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
Ability to complete assignments on time.*

*• Understanding of deployment methodology concepts including design,
build, testing, and deployment.*
