Position: Functional Test Engineer
Duration: 1 year
Location: Sacramento, CA
DUTIES
· Provide system test services for new solution.
· Primary support will include test planning, test preparation and
test execution of the functional changes specific to applications and
interfaces (using standard messaging protocols (i.e. Simple Object Access
Protocol (SOAP) over Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) and Web
Services Definition Language (WSDL)) and flat files via middleware
technology (i.e. JCAPS, Weblogic).
· Provide technical knowledge transfer to staff on the test
planning, preparation, and execution activities and processes.
· Use software test products - HP Application Lifecycle Management,
IBM ClearCase, and IBM ClearQuest.
· Collaborate with IT and business program support staff in order
to develop detailed test plans which include Integration, System, and
Customer Acceptance Test to ensure adherence to IEEE 829-1998 and to ensure
that documented requirements are met
· Align test plan, design and execution with the overall IT
Enterprise Quality Assurance methodology, standards, policies, and
procedures
· Schedule and coordinate batch jobs
· Execute test scenarios and scripts, track and document defects;
develop and provide test results for review
· Collaborate with IT and business program support staff to define
and document Level of Effort assessments for testing the system
· Participate as an active member of the testing team to ensure the
solution delivered is tested properly and traceable to the documented
requirements
· Support and participate in all other test activities as needed
and directed
· Provide detailed documented technical knowledge transfer to staff
on the test planning, preparation, execution activities and processes
· Attend and/or facilitate meetings as needed
· Provide weekly status reports and inform management of any issues
that require escalation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· A minimum of 5 years of experience performing test planning, test
preparation and test execution activities.
· A minimum of 5 years of experience transmitting data using
standard messaging protocols (i.e. Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
over Hypertext Transfer Protocol, Secure (HTTPS) and Web Services
Definition Language (WSDL), and flat files via middleware technology (i.e.
JCAPS).
· A minimum of 5 years working cooperatively with business and IT
professionals, gaining trust of team members and customers, and
communicating clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
· A minimum 5 years of experience managing/coordinating test
activities for a complex, large scale enterprise application
· 3 years of experience with HP Application Lifecycle Management,
IBM ClearCase, and IBM ClearQuest
· Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of retirement lines of business
· Previous experience testing of government retirement lines of
business highly desired
· Experience with the V-Model Methodology
· Experience with testing course offerings and scheduling
application
· Experience testing complex interfaces
· Experience testing infrastructure changes
· Experience with IBM Rational DOORS
· Recent experience testing web based applications that utilize
current web technologies such as Java or ASP.net.
