*Business Overview:*
*The Infrastructure Engineering department is responsible for building and
maintaining the infrastructure, tools, and environments that keep
BestBuy.com’s engineering teams productive and successful.*
*Project Description:*
The Build Infrastructure team is part of Infrastructure Engineering and is
responsible for operating a collection of internal-facing applications that
support the software development lifecycle at Best Buy, including
Confluence, Jira, Stash, Artifactory, Sonar, Jenkins, and Chef. The team
also operates and supports two internal cloud environments running
different deployments of Openstack. The team has full access and full
responsibility to monitor, upgrade, patch, support, and otherwise manage
the environments.
*Responsibilities/Deliverables that the resource will be responsible for:*
• Operating, maintaining, upgrading, and monitoring web
applications running on virtual machines
• Infrastructure automation
• Creating and maintaining tools to support software development
• Administering and operating Atlassian tools, including Jira
and Confluence
• Developing metrics to track and monitor performance of
internal infrastructure
• Upgrading and enhancing the CI/Build pipeline
• Participating in an on-call rotation
*What are the MUST have skills that you are looking for in a candidate?*
• 10+ years of experience deploying, maintaining, and operating
applications (particularly JVM applications) deployed in cloud instances
• Experience building and administering CI/build pipelines and
tools (particularly Jenkins)
• Linux system administration, including a high comfort level
with RHEL and/or Ubuntu
• Experience engineering solutions for scalability,
reliability, and uptime
• Infrastructure automation experience using tools such as
Chef, Puppet, or Ansibl
• Scripting or programming experience with Ruby, Python, Bash,
or another object-oriented programming language
• Network configuration experience
*What are the technologies and the depth of the technologies that a
candidate must have in order to be successful in this role?*
• Linux system administration (advanced)
• Network administration (intermediate)
• Experience with at least one scripting or programming
language
(intermediate)
