Position: Oracle DBA
Core Technologies: 5 years experience as Oracle DBA10g (8i, 9i, 10g)
                            Oracle Data partitioning
                            Past exp managing very large databases
(enterprise level)
                            Working knowledge of PL/SQL, UNIX, and shell
scripts REQUIRED
                            Seeking Core DBA with experience in Production
environment.
                            Migration Experience
Rate: $DOE
Contract Duration: Through December, very likely possibility of extension
Location:  Richmond, VA
References: 2 required
Interview:  Two step process.  Face to Face required

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Administration of Oracle databases

Position Scope:

·         Database partitioning (Oracle Partitioning, an option of Oracle9*i
* Enterprise Edition, can enhance the manageability, performance, and
availability of a wide variety of applications. Partitioning allows tables,
indexes, and index-organized tables to be subdivided into smaller pieces,
enabling these database objects to be managed and accessed at a finer level
of granularity.)

·         Daily database releases, including QA, UAT and staging/production

·         User administration

·         Database performance and SQL tuning

·         Database monitoring

·         Routine data migration among different database environments

·         Basic storage management

·         Creation of the logical and physical data models.

·         Troubleshooting daily program problems to assist program users in
accessing and manipulating computerized data

·         Analyzing and creates programs to streamline production jobs

·         Establish and maintain data bases for user testing purposes and
production

·         Consult with business analysts, data modelers and designers on
procedures pertaining to new and existing files

·         Provide input to the data models (functionality, efficiency and
usability)

·         Responsible for the technical aspects of one or more databases
including availability/reliability

·         Assist in the definition of the database requirements; analyze
existing databases and their interfaces looking for opportunities to improve
their efficiency; and resolve technical problems



*Job Requirements: *


   - The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years hands-on
   Oracle DBA experience with up to date skills (Oracle 8i, 9i, 10g etc)
   - Oracle data partitioning
   - Experience of managing very large databases
   - Working knowledge of PL/SQL, UNIX and Shell scripts is required
   - An in-depth understanding and experience with Oracle databases in an
   UNIX environment is required.
   - A BS or equivalent is required.  Experience may be substituted for
   required education.  Oracle DBA Certification is highly desirable.  Must be
   a team player and be able to work in an operationally critical, diverse and
   highly politically exposed environment
   - Good communication skills are a must
