Oracle DBA Location: Columbus, OH Length: 6 months Start: ASAP Interview : phone As an Oracle DBA, you will be responsible for performing general database administration tasks e.g. backup of the database, restore the database, refreshing an environment from another. The job also entails monitoring database performance and working with other team members to remove bottlenecks and improve overall performance, enforcing database policies and procedures, providing database administration for developers and team members. Duties and Responsibilities: * Create, maintain and facilitate standard backup & restore procedures. * Run export/import, datapump, RMAN utilities * Work pro-actively to gauge the performance database and provide recommendations to achieve the optimal runtimes of the scripts * Assess impact on performance with different changes and review scalability of the infrastructure. * Maintain standard procedural documentation related to operating the database platforms. * Document known errors or workarounds in the shared Knowledge Base. * Consult with vendors & other teams to recommend best practices and tune software during the development cycle. * Recommend and maintain standards for monitoring and event management. Skills Required: * Computer Science degree or equivalent experience. * Proven 2+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience on 10g DBs. * Strong experience on oracle utilities exp, imp, expdp, impdp, and rman. * Any RAC experience will be a plus, but not required. * History of managing multiple RDBMS in large environments in Solaris/Unix environments. * Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database. * Experience in working in a 24X7 environments and on-call support. * Strong interpersonal skills.
