** ** *Job Title: Cognos Developer* *Duration: 6+ Months* *Location: Detroit, MI* *LOCALS preferred - Need only GC/Citizens/EAD’s or OPT’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* The Sr. Cognos Developer understands business challenges and translates them into requirements/solutions. The Sr. Cognos Developer has experience designing, developing, and implementing complex Cognos 8 solutions; relational and multi-dimensional data modeling, including the use of standard Data Modeling Tools. *Duties and Responsibilities:* Understand business requirements, logical specifications and translate them into solutions Design and develop analytic and reporting solutions using Cognos 8, Oracle, SQL and potentially other standard web and reporting tools to support business reporting and analysis Design, develop and implement complex Cognos 8 solutions Design and develop dashboards, key performance indicators and other solutions Work with architects to develop data models, design specifications, and metadata documentation Review data models with data architect and ETL developers, ensuring business requirements are met during development and that data is accurate and consistent. *Required Experience and Skills:* Demonstrated hands on experience with a full lifecycle Cognos BI implementation. A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex BI requirements. A documented history of successfully driving projects to completion. Prioritization and organizational skills to execute and manage many tasks concurrently. Expert knowledge of SQL (3+ year's experience). * * *Strong Data Modeling And Design Knowledge**:* Data modeling theory, Semantic consistency (across the enterprise), 3NF Operational modeling, Dimensional modeling (star schema and snowflake), DBMS constructs (views, constraints, indexes, etc.), Logical and physical data modeling. The most recent 5 years of experience should be in Business Intelligence or Data Warehousing type projects, and the most recent 2 years should be in a Cognos development role, as a senior or lead Cognos developer. 5+ years experience in Cognos BI (Series 8, Report/Analysis/Query Studios, Framework Manager, and Transformer) including architecting, administering, developing and supporting the environment. 3+ years experience in the Cognos 8 suite of Business Intelligence tools. Framework Manager, Query Studio, Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Metric Studio, Metric Designer, Event Studio and Reports Administration. 3+ years experience in Oracle and Informatica. Experience integrating Cognos 8 with SQL Server and Oracle.
