Role/Title: Market Research Analyst

*SUMMARY OF POSITION*



This position will support the development of methods, processes, resources
and tools for gathering, integrating and disseminating marketing research
information into the BCBSM organization.  Responsibilities include
collaboration with stakeholders to identify information needs, capturing and
organizing market and competitor information, helping to transform market
research data into recommendations, developing appropriate research designs,
planning and executing market research projects, and utilizing department
resources and tools to foster fact-based decision making.



*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*



   - Develop and maintain a single integrated source of market, competitor
   and tactical stakeholder information that is a destination for BCBSM
   decision-makers.  Includes maintaining the organization and integrity of
   market research information library or file sharing system.  Identify,
   recommend and implement continuous improvement and enhancement of the
   library.
   - Communicate with internal customers/partners to understand and document
   research questions, business objectives and/or information needs.  Utilize
   market and competitive information to respond to project requirements.
   - Identify and monitor competitors and research market conditions or
   changes in the industry that may affect sales.  Includes using research to
   assist in identifying best practices and opportunities for BCBSM.
   - Regularly monitor online resources, syndicated services, research
   reports, e-newsletters, etc for market and competitive information relevant
   to stakeholders.
   - Collect, study, and analyze data from corporate surveys and past
   statistics to evaluate existing and potential product/trends/service
   markets.
   - Communicate research findings via reports and presentation materials.
   Assist management in analyzing problems and implementing programs that
   provide solutions.



*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE*



   - Bachelors degree in business, economics or health care administration
   required – MBA or advanced degree preferred


   - Five (5) or more years of marketing/market research experience required
   - Two (2) to three (3) years of health care industry experience preferred

   - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw
   valid conclusions
   - Project management experience
   - Self-starter with the ability to work independently within a team
   environment
   - Ability to prioritize and work on several projects concurrently
   - Ability to effectively interface with employees at all levels
   - Knowledge of Marketing disciplines and processes
   - Understand and apply basic financial and business analysis
   - Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
   - Knowledge of MSAccess - database development and management
   - Knowledge of SharePoint – file management & organization and basic web
   part development
