Ann Arbor, MI * * The Software Developer works as part of an agile team on new development initiatives and platform enhancements for a research website searched by millions of users daily. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the code base for the public site platform and any subsystems needed. The candidate will work on a variety of projects varying in size and complexity to produce high-quality solutions utilizing industry standards and best practices. This position will have the ability to work closely with interface developers, quality assurance specialists, product managers and the breadth of business units as needed and reports to the Software Development Manager. *The full definition:* The Software Developer will need to have a broad range of current java experience. The candidate also needs the capacity to rise above and beyond simply completing coding tasks assigned by management. The ability to take an idea and help work through options in order to get that idea converted into a set of workable tasks are all necessities for this role. The candidate will achieve this by working with the Product Managers to understand the business needs behind the tasks and collaborating with Senior Software Developers to ensure those tasks can then be assigned to the development team. Additionally, the candidate will utilize their exceptional communication skills by participating in code reviews and by creation of technical documentation for newly implemented features. *Primary duties include:* • Develop well-structured, performant, and semantically correct code that meets client coding conventions. • Develop and maintain code utilizing *Java, XML, XSL*, XHTML and JavaScript. • Develop unit and functional tests for all code written • Collaborate with interface developers on web solutions using *JSP*. • Collaborate with QA to diagnose and fix software defects. • Develop reusable code libraries. • Participate in code reviews. • Develop and maintain documentation regarding coding practices and design. • Provide accurate time estimates for assigned work. *Roles and responsibilities:* • Collaborate with the Technical Architect and/or Senior Software Developers to design and implement solutions to meet business needs. • Collaborate with Lead Interface Developer to ensure compliance with web standards and best practices. • Collaborate with a cross functional team consisting of developers, interface developers, user experience designers, QA, and product management to deliver projects using an agile, iterative process. • Collaborate with non-technical staff to explain processes • Assist in developing methodologies, standards and best practices. • Research and recommend appropriate technologies. *Required Qualifications:* • 4 years of experience developing software systems with broad coverage of the software development life-cycle • 4 years of experience as a developer in an Object Oriented environment • 4 years of programming web applications with Java, specifically with servlets and JSP • 1 year of experience with authoring XSL transformations • Knowledge of RDBMS concepts, including JDBC • Experience with agile software development methods such as SCRUM or other modern development methodologies • Experience designing multi-level architectures • Experience with source control systems such as Git, Subversion, CVS • Ability to take initiative with projects and act independently as needed • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work load and meet multiple project deadlines • Proven track record of on time/on budget delivery • Must be detail oriented and demonstrate a strong customer service focus • Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work with innovative solutions • Strong interpersonal and writing skills • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience. *Recommended Skills and Experience:* • 6 years of experience developing software systems with broad coverage of the software development life-cycle • Experience with publishing systems or online delivery systems are highly desirable. • Experience with open source packages such as Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, and Eclipse • Experience with IntelliJ or Eclipse IDEs • Experience with Tomcat, WebSphere, Apache and Resin application servers • Experience with Perl and other scripting languages • Experience with web services and service oriented architectures • Experience using UNIX generally, Solaris and Linux in particular -- Regards, Shankar 248-522-6879 Technology consultanst inc -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SAP ABAP" group.
