When screening the candidates please make sure they are very strong in UI development (no need for graphical design expertise just programming) since more than 50% of their work will be in presentation tier coding. Job Description Working alongside of the Technical lead and Java Architect, the Senior Java UI Developer will be responsible for building the Presentation tier and integrating the UI with the Business tier services of a Rich Internet Application (RIA) utilizing cloud based N-tier architecture. The Senior Developer will be heavily involved in the design and development of the UI tier meeting the business needs, working closely with Java Architect, Database Architect, and SMEs. The Senior Developer will also be mentoring and teaching other UI developers in the group. Primary Responsibilities . Provide technical leadership in UI and presentation-tier of application . Working with Lead Architect, turn business requirements into detailed design description (due diligence to best strategy, performance, usability, reliability and scalability) . Write source code, adapt existing components, and test the developed components as units creating test stubs and test data as necessary. . Define and ensure compliance to standards and best practices for UI, Mid-Tier, data access and database development including change management, release management, & source code control. . Assist and help team members with programming technique for presentation-tier. . Define and create reusable Services . Define and create data containers between UI / Services . Create controllers for the UI to call . Implement server side validation . Convert wireframes into JSPs . Implement client side validation . Create custom UI widgets . Integrate with Services created by Middle Tier team . Displaying Service data on UI . Resolving bugs / issues found in the Middle and UI Tier Qualifications & Experience: * Five or more years web application development experience in Java/J2EE * Experienced with the following applications, technologies, frameworks and tools o Applications: Apache, Tomcat, Oracle, Eclipse o Libraries: Experience with AJAX libraries like Ext-JS, YUI, or jQuery.
